Language of Materials
This collection contains materials created and accumulated by Peter Paret over the course of his time as Faculty and Emeritus with the Institute for Advanced Study School of Historical Studies from approximately 1986-2021. Materials include administrative records related to Paret's role at the Institute as well as a selection of manuscripts and correspondence.
Peter Paret donated these materials to the Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center on October 30, 2020. Upon receipt, these papers were added to an existing collection of Peter Paret materials received by the Institute for Advanced Study Historical Studies-Social Science Library from Peter Paret during a donation of his personal library in 2017.
Peter Paret noted that the correspondence between Paret and Gilbert came directly from Gilbert who "saved my letters and copies of his replies in his folders, which I received from his widow."
Upon receipt, Caitlin Rizzo rehoused materials into acid-free storage containers for long-term preservation. Rizzo retained all original folder titles and arrangement.
