Scope and Contents
The Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton, N.J.). Director's Office. Assistant to the Director for Community Affairs records contain administrative files created and accumulated by the Assistant to the Director for Community Affairs. The Assistant to the Director for Community Affairs existed for a short time within the Director's Office under the tenure of former Director Harry Wolf. The position served as a liasion between Woolf's office and the community of Members and Visitors at the Institute for Advanced Study. The administrative files maintained by this office inlcude topical files documenting broad topics of interest to the community as well as files related to the Einstein Centennial Symposium at the Institute for Advanced Study. Materials date from approximately 1971-1988.

Materials in this collection are restricted subject to the Institute for Advanced Study Archival Policy (1986).
Per the Institute for Advanced Study Archival Policy, Institute records remain under restriction for 30 years from the date of the record’s creation. Additionally, all institutional records related to personnel (including human resources record and/or records related to recommendation and/or appointment to the Institute) remain restricted for the lifetime of both the creator and subject.
Conditions Governing Use
Researchers are welcome to publish, reproduce, and use the Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center’s holdings in accordance with U.S. Copyright Law. Under the Fair Use doctrine, users may freely reproduce materials for personal research, teaching, and/or scholarship. Under the same doctrine, users may cite or publish selected passages and/or quotations for comment and criticism. Custodial History
Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton, N.J.). Director's Office staff transferred these materials to the Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center in 2009.
Processing Information
Upon receipt, archivists housed these materials in acid-free storage containers for long-term storage. Archivists arranged files into two distint sub-groups: Topical Files and Einstein Centenial Symposium, but retained the original folders and folder headings within series.
