Louise Morse scrapbooks

Scope and Contents

The Louise Morse scrapbooks contain photographs of the Institute for Advanced Study community of scholars from approximately 1936 to 1988. The photographs feature Louise Morse alongside Marston Morse, her husband and Faculty of the Institute School of Mathematics. Photographs depict various Institute Faculty, Members, and Visitors alongside their family at social gatherings.

The Louise Morse scrapbooks contain three volumes of photographs collected by Institute for Advanced Study community member Louise Morse from approximately 1936 to 1988. Photographs depict Institute for Advanced Study Faculty, Members, and Visitors as well as family and friends at social gatherings and events.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Louise Morse donated this collection to the Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center in 2001 and 2011.

Processing Information

Upon receipt, archivists rehoused materials in acid-free storage containers for long term storage. Additionally, archivists separated scrapbooks from materials collected by Morse related to her relationship with Abraham Flexner and described the two groups as distinct collections.
